Description
The tenth and final dime pattern variety for 1868, J-649 concludes the most productive year of dime experimentation in the Reconstruction era. This closing entry brings the total count of dime pattern varieties across 1866-1868 to fifteen, creating a substantial body of evidence documenting the Mint's engagement with the ten-cent denomination during the post-Civil War period. While the Seated Liberty design would continue through 1891, these patterns foreshadow the design renewal that would eventually produce the Barber dime in 1892.
