The 1867 Proof Two Cent Pattern - J-557 is a proof two-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It was struck from the regular 1867 two-cent dies, so its design matches the regular coin; only the metal differs. Judd lists it in oroide with a plain edge, and USPatterns.com rates it R-8. Judd classes it as a die trial, a strike from regular dies in a metal other than the coin's own. USPatterns.com knows one, struck from business strike dies with a badly cracked reverse.
