The 1867 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-584 is a proof five-cent pattern listed by Judd, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It is a muling of the 1867 Liberty head with a star on the coronet and a Washington obverse with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Judd lists it in white metal with a plain edge. USPatterns.com ties these pieces to dies Joseph Mickley bought from the Mint as scrap; many of them went into the Crosby collection. USPatterns.com treats the white metal listing as unconfirmed, probably a misdescription of J-584a or J-584b. It is catalogued as Judd-584, Pollock-645. Cataloged as PCGS #60796.
