The 1867 Proof Half Eagle Pattern - J-601 is a proof half eagle pattern struck outside the Mint from Mint dies, as USPatterns.com believes, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It was struck from half eagle dies. Judd lists it in nickel with a plain edge, and USPatterns.com rates it R-8. USPatterns.com ties these pieces to dies Joseph Mickley bought from the Mint as scrap; many of them went into the Crosby collection. USPatterns.com records two in nickel, one of uncertain composition. It is catalogued as Judd-601, Pollock-664, Adams-Woodin 633. Cataloged as PCGS #60813.
