The 1865 Two Cent Pattern - J-409a represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. It is a striking of the regular 1865 two-cent dies in an off metal; USPatterns believes most such pieces of this year were struck for sale to collectors rather than to test the dies.
