Description
The 1865 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-418 is a proof five-cent piece struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. It is a restrike of the 1865 five-cent design, struck around 1870 with a heavily polished reverse die on which parts of the letters are missing. It is struck in nickel with a plain edge; USPatterns rates it R-6. Catalogued as Judd-418, Pollock-490, A/W 508. Cataloged as PCGS #60600.
