Judd-394, Pollock-465, is the fourth 1864 proof half dollar motto pattern. This penultimate variety in the year's half dollar series represents an advanced design iteration close to the adopted version. The cumulative total of half dollar motto patterns from 1861 through 1864 reached twenty varieties — more than any other single denomination received during the entire four-year development program. This reflects the half dollar's role as the lead denomination for motto experimentation.
