1864 Two Cent Piece - Large Motto - Radical MAD Die Clash MDC-2C-1864-01

Description

MDC-2c-1864-01 is a radical MAD die clash on an 1864 two-cent piece (Large Motto), cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The denticles of the opposing die are clashed into the reverse, crossing the ribbon's bow and reaching into the U of UNITED, and MDC gives an overlay of roughly where the dies sat at the clash. MDC also presents a misaligned clash on an 1864 two-cent piece with marks on both dies: on the obverse, the bottom of the wreath and the bow show above IN GOD WE TRUST, and on the reverse, the denticles run clearly from the U of UNITED through the wheat stalks of the wreath and across the bow. Images are by Rick Snow and Frank Leone.
