Description
The 1863 Proof Dime Pattern - J-331 is a proof dime struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. It pairs a dateless Seated Liberty obverse with the reverse of the 1863 postage currency ten-cent pattern. USPatterns, citing David Cassel's tests, says the known examples are of standard coin nickel. It is struck in nickel with a reeded edge; USPatterns rates it R-7. Catalogued as Judd-331, Pollock-402.
