The 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime is a United States dime from the Capped Bust Half Dimes 1829-1837 series — 7th of 9 years in the series. In 1835, coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a combined mintage of 2.8 million. This represents the second-highest annual mintage in the series, above the series median of 1.4 million. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Small Date and Large Date varieties exist. One of the higher-mintage dates. Struck in 89.2% silver, 10.8% copper, weighing 1.35 grams, 15.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Across its variants, estimated values range from $83 to $1.1K depending on mint mark, grade, and strike type. A notable auction result reached $50K in MS67+ grade at Heritage Auctions.
