Description

The 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime - Small Date, Small 5C is a dime produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Capped Bust Half Dimes 1829-1837 series. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Small Date and Large Date varieties exist. One of the higher-mintage dates. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $83 to $1.1K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 89.2% silver, 10.8% copper, weighing 1.35 grams, 15.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4285.
