The 1834 Capped Bust Half Dime is a United States dime from the Capped Bust Half Dimes 1829-1837 series. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Designed by William Kneass. Struck in 89.2% silver, 10.8% copper, weighing 1.35 grams, 15.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint. The Capped Bust Half Dime was produced in a single type from 1829 to 1837. All were struck at the Philadelphia Mint and feature a reeded edge from the use of the close-collar die system.
