Description
Part of the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series, the 1819 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - Small Date is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint. The 1819 cent had a mintage of 2.7 million across all of its varieties; the Small Date share is unknown. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Large Date and Small Date varieties. The 1819/8 overdate is a collected variety. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1606.
