Description

A 1793/2 overdate Washington Ship halfpenny in copper with a plain edge. The obverse shows Washington's bust with WASHINGTON PRESIDENT, and the reverse depicts a three-masted sailing ship, symbolizing American maritime trade and naval power. The 1793/2 overdate is the most distinctive feature of all Ship halfpenny varieties. The plain edge version is generally the most available of the Ship halfpenny types.
