Description
A 1793/2 overdate Washington Ship halfpenny with the edge inscription "PAYABLE IN ANGLESEY" identifying its manufacture in Anglesey, Wales. The Parys Mine Company in Anglesey was one of the largest copper producers in the world and a major manufacturer of copper tokens. This edge inscription directly connects the Washington Ship halfpenny to the Anglesey copper token industry. The 1793/2 overdate is visible as a re-punched date.
