A 1791 Washington President proof cent with the large eagle reverse. This proof striking features the WASHINGTON PRESIDENT obverse legend and was produced with specially prepared dies for a mirrorlike finish. Proof colonial-era pieces are extremely rare, as the concept of proof coinage was still developing.
