Description

A 1787 New Jersey copper with the reverse legend reading PLURIRUS instead of PLURIBUS, substituting R for B. This legend error is one of the more dramatic misspellings in the series. The R-for-B substitution resulted from the die sinker selecting the wrong punch from their set.

Rarity Notes

Scarce legend error variety.
