Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
A 1787 New Jersey copper with a large planchet and plain (unadorned) shield on the reverse. The "large planchet" designation indicates this variety was struck on a noticeably larger copper blank than standard, giving it a more impressive size. The plain shield lacks the ornamental details found on some other reverse dies.
