Description
A 1786 New Jersey copper with the wide shield reverse, distinguished from the narrow shield by its broader, more prominent design. The wide shield fills more of the reverse field and is considered a separate type from the narrow shield issues. The obverse retains the standard horse head and plow design.

Moderately scarce. The wide shield type is less common than narrow shield for 1786.
