Description

A 1786 New Jersey copper distinguished by the absence of the coulter (the vertical blade in front of the plowshare) on the obverse plow. The standard New Jersey copper obverse depicts a horse's head above a plow with the legend NOVA CAESAREA (Latin for New Jersey). This "No Coulter" variety is one of the earliest types in the series.

Rarity Notes

Moderately scarce. One of the earliest New Jersey copper varieties.
