This 1785 copper pairs the CONFEDERATIO die with large stars and the INIMICA TYRANNIS reverse. The CONFEDERATIO dies of 1785 show thirteen stars in a glory, in a large or a small circle, and were paired with several other dies: INIMICA TYRANNIS AMERICA or AMERICANA with an Indian, GEN. WASHINGTON, LIBERTAS ET JUSTITIA, an eagle with E PLURIBUS UNUM, IMMUNIS COLUMBIA and a shield. Crosby believed Thomas Wyon of Birmingham cut the dies and that some were proposals for state or national coppers. Crosby records that a piece with the INIMICA TYRANNIS AMERICA reverse, a die he found only with the large-star obverse, was dug from an old drain at Berlin, Connecticut in 1861. PCGS number 45411.
