Description
A 1783 Nova Constellatio copper halfpenny with pointed rays and "Small US" lettering (smaller UNITED STATES letters on the reverse). The small vs. large US distinction is one of the primary classification criteria for Nova Constellatio copper halfpennies. These coppers circulated alongside other colonial and state-issued copper coins in the absence of an official federal coinage.
