Description

A transitional variety retaining the misspelling "VALVE" but changing to the famous "VALVE ME AS YOU PLEASE" legend — popularly explained by local merchants' reluctance to accept at threepence value a coin no larger than an English halfpenny. Reverse retains "I AM GOOD COPPER" with three hammers.
