Description

The earliest Higley Copper variety, with "THE VALVE OF THREE PENCE" around a deer on the obverse and three crowned hammers surrounded by "CONNECTICVT" on the reverse. The archaic spelling with "V" reflects Latin convention. Produced by Dr. Samuel Higley from copper mined at his private mine in Granby, Connecticut.

Rarity Notes

R.8. Extremely rare; approximately 6 known. The AU50 NGC example is the finest of all known Higley varieties.
