Description

An undated Washington "Success" medal of the large size with a plain edge and silvered finish. The silvered copper surface gives this medal a brighter, silver-like appearance compared to the plain copper version. Silvering was applied to copper medals as a decorative enhancement, simulating a more precious metal. The SUCCESS TO THE UNITED STATES legend and eagle reverse are preserved under the silver plating.

Rarity Notes

Rare. Silvered examples are scarcer than plain copper.
