About This Coin
The most extensive series of Massachusetts silver copies produced by William S. Wyatt of Baltimore, covering the full range of Pine Tree denominations: penny, threepence, sixpence, and shilling. Wyatt's Pine Tree copies were struck in both silver and copper during the 1850s and 1860s, at a time when the collecting of colonial coins was gaining popularity in America. His careful craftsmanship produced pieces of sufficient quality that they require expert examination to distinguish from worn originals. The series is extensively cataloged and forms the largest group within the Wyatt Copy family.
