Proof gold pieces struck later from Bechtler dies for Henry Chapman (Kagin K-30, K-31). Henry Chapman, a Philadelphia coin dealer, obtained three Bechtler half eagle dies, an A. BECHTLER obverse reading 141.G. 20. CARATS. and two reverses, one of A. Bechtler and one of C. Bechtler at RUTHERF:, and had proof pieces struck from them in gold at the Philadelphia Mint. Greysheet dates the striking to March 1922 and believes about fifteen were made from each pair of dies; PCGS catalogs the pieces as struck about 1908.
