Description

This 2026 one-ounce silver medal depicts Robin as part of the United States Mint's Comic Art Coin and Medal Collection. Robin (Dick Grayson (original)) first appeared in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940), created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson. Robin, the Boy Wonder, was introduced in 1940 as Batman's young sidekick, becoming one of the first teenage heroes in comic book history. The original Robin, Dick Grayson, was a circus acrobat orphaned when criminals murdered his parents — mirroring Batman's own origin and creating a powerful mentor-protege dynamic. The Robin mantle has been carried by several characters over the decades, but Dick Grayson remains the definitive version who eventually graduated to become the independent hero Nightwing. The obverse depicts Robin in action, fearless and fiercely loyal, showcasing the ultimate sidekick's serious skills in the program's distinctive comic art style. The reverse features the Robin emblem. This one-troy-ounce medal is struck in .999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint with a matte finish. It measures 40.60 mm (1.598 inches) in diameter with a plain edge. The medal does not carry a date or denomination, though it is cataloged by its release year. The one-ounce silver medal has no fixed mintage limit, making it the most accessible precious metal offering in the Comic Art program. Subscriptions are available for ongoing character releases. The one-ounce silver medal serves as the entry point for precious metal collectors in the Comic Art program, offering the same design as the gold coin and 2.5-ounce medal in a more affordable format. Robin is the second character in the 2026 season of the Comic Art program, scheduled for summer release, representing the enduring appeal of Batman's legendary partner. Authorized by the United States Mint in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, the Comic Art Coin and Medal Collection brings DC's most iconic superheroes to numismatic art. The multi-year program debuts three characters annually, with each hero depicted in the bold, dynamic style of classic comic book illustration across gold coins, silver medals, and clad medals. With no mintage ceiling and subscription availability, the one-ounce silver medal is designed for the broadest collector audience, providing an affordable way to collect each character in .999 fine silver.
