2026 Comic Art Green Lantern Clad Medal

Coin Details

Description

This clad medal features Green Lantern from the United States Mint's Comic Art Coin and Medal Collection, produced in the same half-dollar-sized format used for the program's base metal offerings. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) first appeared in Showcase #22 (October 1959, Hal Jordan version), created by John Broome and Gil Kane. Green Lantern is a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping force whose members wield power rings that can create constructs of solid light fueled by willpower. The most iconic Green Lantern, test pilot Hal Jordan, received his ring from dying alien Abin Sur in 1959, launching one of DC Comics' most creative and cosmic-scale franchises. The Green Lantern mythos expanded to include an entire corps of thousands of ring-bearers from across the universe, each patrolling their assigned sector of space. The obverse depicts Green Lantern as a glowing symbol of honor and willpower, with the power ring's energy rendered in the bold comic art illustration style of the program. The reverse features the Green Lantern Corps emblem. This clad medal matches the specifications of a United States half dollar in composition (8.33% nickel, balance copper), diameter (30.61 mm / 1.205 inches), and weight (11.340 grams). It features a plain edge and is not legal tender. The clad medal is expected to be sold as part of a three-medal set alongside the other 2026 characters, following the format established by the 2025 set. Green Lantern completes the 2026 trio of the Comic Art program with a fall release, adding DC's premier cosmic hero to the growing collection.
