Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) first appeared in Showcase #22 (October 1959, Hal Jordan version), created by John Broome and Gil Kane. Green Lantern is a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping force whose members wield power rings that can create constructs of solid light fueled by willpower.
