Description

The 2024 (D) American Innovation Dollar - Missouri, Position B was struck at the Denver Mint as a dollar in the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint struck 449,975 Missouri dollars at Denver in all, with Position A and Position B edges counted together; how the total divides between the two is not recorded. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin honors George Washington Carver, the Missouri-born agricultural scientist whose research into crop rotation, peanuts, and sweet potatoes revolutionized Southern farming. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.49 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #966239.
