Description

The 2024 (D) American Innovation Dollar - Illinois, Position A was struck at the Denver Mint as a dollar in the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint struck 460,200 Illinois dollars at Denver in all, with Position A and Position B edges counted together; how the total divides between the two is not recorded. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin honors the invention of the steel plow, which could cut through thick Midwest prairie soil and enabled the agricultural transformation of the American heartland.
