Description

The 2024 (D) American Innovation Dollar - Missouri, Position A, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint total of 449,975 is for all Denver Missouri dollars of the year; it is not a count of Position A coins, and that number is not recorded. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin honors George Washington Carver, the Missouri-born agricultural scientist whose research into crop rotation, peanuts, and sweet potatoes revolutionized Southern farming. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.49 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #966237.
