Description
The 2022 (P) Native American Dollar - Position A is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 980,000 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 25% of total production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2022 Native American Dollar honors Ely S. Parker (Ha-sa-no-an-da), a Seneca Nation leader and Union Army officer who served under General Grant and drafted the surrender terms signed at Appomattox. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #899375.
