Description
The 2022 (D) Native American Dollar - Position B, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint's Denver total of 980,000 for 2022 covers both edge orientations combined; no count exists for Position B coins alone. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2022 Native American Dollar honors Ely S. Parker (Ha-sa-no-an-da), a Seneca Nation leader and Union Army officer who served under General Grant and drafted the surrender terms signed at Appomattox. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #899379.
