Description
The 2022 (P) American Innovation Dollar - Vermont, Position B is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 454,275 examples, making this ranked 15th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 6% of production. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. This coin honors snowboarding's roots in Vermont, where Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards in 1977 and helped transform snowboarding into an Olympic discipline. Rhode Island (yacht design — Nathanael Herreshoff), Vermont (snowboarding — Jake Burton Carpenter), Kentucky (bluegrass music), and Tennessee (the Tennessee Valley Authority — transforming rural electrification).
