Description

Part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series, the 2020 (P) Salt River Bay National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts a red mangrove tree in early growth stages. Salt River Bay marks the only documented site where members of a Columbus expedition set foot on what is now U.S. territory, and it protects a remarkable mangrove estuary. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% fine silver, weighing 155.52 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge.
