Description

Cataloged at Stage B — indicating moderate progression of the die fracture — this interior die break on the 2020 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Shield Cent documents a failure pattern on a modern copper-plated zinc cent. Interior die breaks differ from cuds in one critical respect: the fractured section of the die remains fully enclosed within the design area rather than extending to the rim.
