Description
The 2020 (D) Presidential Dollar - George H.W. Bush, Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 8.5 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 25% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The forty-first President (1989–1993), George H.W. Bush led an international coalition to victory in the Gulf War and presided over the peaceful end of the Cold War, including the fall of the Berlin Wall. He was the last Presidential Dollar subject, as the series requires presidents to be deceased. George H.W. Bush was honored posthumously following his death in 2018, the final Presidential Dollar. The coin was issued in limited quantities as a collector-only release. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $12 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #848387.
