Description
The 2019 (P) Proof Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 224,010 proof Apollo 11 50th Anniversary dollars dated 2019. The coin is curved: a bootprint on the Moon with MERCURY, GEMINI and APOLLO between phases of the Moon on the dished obverse, and on the domed reverse Buzz Aldrin's visor reflecting Neil Armstrong, the flag and the lunar module. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #695564.
