Description

The 2018 (S) Apostle Islands National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 871,820 examples, making this ranked 4th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with less than 1% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts the sea caves at Devils Island with a lighthouse and kayaker. Apostle Islands encompasses 21 islands on Lake Superior, featuring dramatic sea caves, historic lighthouses, and old-growth forests. Pictured Rocks (MI), Apostle Islands (WI), Voyageurs (MN), Cumberland Island (GA), and Block Island (RI) were featured. The program continued with strong collector support nearing its conclusion.
