2017 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-007
ErrorDescription
Attributed under Wexler Variety ID 2017-P 25¢ DC WDDR-007 with no other known cross-references, this Philadelphia Frederick Douglass National Park quarter shows slight doubling at an angle between the first two windows on the right side of the building. Obverse Stage A shows a die gouge below the right O in DOLLAR and inside the lower E in UNITED. Stage B retains those and adds a die chip above the T in QUARTER, a gouge above the U, and another below the first R in QUARTER. Reverse Stage A reveals light die scrapes at the horizon right of the house; Stage B adds a small gouge above the right side of the house. The progression of obverse die chips from Stage A to B provides collectors a reliable method for sequencing specimens. The Frederick Douglass quarter's architectural reverse lends itself well to doubled die examination under moderate magnification.
