Description

A dollar from the Denver Mint, the 2017 (D) Native American Dollar - Position B belongs to the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's Denver total of 1.5 million for 2017 covers both edge orientations combined; no count exists for Position B coins alone. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2017 Native American Dollar honors Sequoyah, the Cherokee scholar who single-handedly created the Cherokee syllabary, enabling Cherokee literacy and the first Native American newspaper. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition.
