About This Coin
The 2011 Medal of Honor Commemorative Dollar is a United States dollar from the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. In 2011, the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints struck 157,585 of these dollars, uncirculated and proof together, by the Mint's figures. The obverse shows the Army, Navy and Air Force Medals of Honor and the reverse a soldier carrying a wounded comrade. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by Jim Licaretz/Richard Masters.
