About This Coin
The 1983 Los Angeles Olympiad Commemorative Dollar is a United States dollar from the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series — the first year of the series. In 1983, the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints struck 2,219,596 of these dollars, uncirculated and proof together, by the Mint's figures. The obverse shows a discus thrower with the Olympic rings and the reverse the head of an eagle. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
