The 2010 (S) Proof Yosemite National Park - Silver Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 859,417 silver proof Yosemite quarters dated 2010. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts El Capitan, the massive 3,000-foot granite monolith. Yosemite National Park in California's Sierra Nevada is renowned for its dramatic granite cliffs, towering waterfalls, and giant sequoia groves. Inaugural year featuring Hot Springs (AR), Yellowstone (WY), Yosemite (CA), Grand Canyon (AZ), and Mount Hood (OR). Strong collector enthusiasm drove high first-year demand for both circulating and silver proof versions. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
