Description

The 2010 (S) Proof Native American Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.7 million examples, making this ranked 6th of 10 mint variants by mintage, with 1% of production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2010 Native American Dollar celebrates the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy and its Great Law of Peace, a democratic governance model that influenced the U.S. Constitution. The reverse depicts the Hiawatha Belt with five arrows bound together representing the five original nations. First year of the annual reverse rotation. The Great Law of Peace (Haudenosaunee Confederacy) was featured. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $10. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #416238.
