Description

The 2010 (D) Satin Finish Native American Dollar - Position B is a special strike dollar struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint issued 583,897 of the 2010-D Satin Finish Native American dollar in all, with edges running either way; the count with Position B lettering is unknown. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2010 Native American Dollar celebrates the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy and its Great Law of Peace, which bound the Haudenosaunee nations together. The reverse depicts the Hiawatha Belt with five arrows bound together representing the five original nations. Second design of the annual reverse program. The Great Law of Peace (Haudenosaunee Confederacy) was featured. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #416242.
