Description

The 2010 (P) Yosemite National Park Satin Finish Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 583,897 satin-finish Yosemite quarters dated 2010. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts El Capitan, the massive 3,000-foot granite monolith. Yosemite National Park in California's Sierra Nevada is renowned for its dramatic granite cliffs, towering waterfalls, and giant sequoia groves. Inaugural year featuring Hot Springs (AR), Yellowstone (WY), Yosemite (CA), Grand Canyon (AZ), and Mount Hood (OR). Strong collector enthusiasm drove high first-year demand for both circulating and silver proof versions. Auction record: $300 SP69 04-02-2023 eBay. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #418857.
