Description
The 2010 (P) Mount Hood National Park Satin Finish Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 583,897 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 30 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse portrays Mount Hood, Oregon's highest peak, with Lost Lake in the foreground reflecting the snow-capped volcanic summit. Mount Hood National Forest encompasses over one million acres of diverse ecosystems. Inaugural year featuring Hot Springs (AR), Yellowstone (WY), Yosemite (CA), Grand Canyon (AZ), and Mount Hood (OR). Strong collector enthusiasm drove high first-year demand for both circulating and silver proof versions. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Auction record: $300 SP69 07-06-2023 eBay. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #418861.
