The 2010 (D) Yellowstone National Park Satin Finish Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Denver Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 583,897 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 30 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts Old Faithful geyser mid-eruption with an American bison standing in the foreground. Established in 1872 as the world's first national park, Yellowstone is home to the largest concentration of geysers on Earth. Inaugural year featuring Hot Springs (AR), Yellowstone (WY), Yosemite (CA), Grand Canyon (AZ), and Mount Hood (OR). Strong collector enthusiasm drove high first-year demand for both circulating and silver proof versions.
